Dr. Imran Punekar MD PhD
Dr. Imran is a Neuroiscientist, Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Managment Specialist. His journey began with a degree in Bioethics, Philosophy and Cognitive Science at Villanova University. He then was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to the U.A.E. where he studied Decision Making in Transplant patients. He went on to complete an MD/PhD at the University of Rochester Medical Center where he studied Decision Making and Reward Behavior in the context of Deep Brain Stimulation. During this time he presented at numerous professional meetings in various fields including Neuroscience, Burn Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Pain Management and Neurosurgery.
He then completed a one year research fellowshiop in Plastic Surgery followed by his 4-year training in Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester and a one year clinilca fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at NYU. Dr. Imran also has several publications in Burn Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Plastic Surgery including a cover article in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery on the anatomy of the Abdominal Wall.
Dr. Imran’s passion is helping patients re-align with their goals, hopes and dreams. He combines traditional hands on evaluation and careful listening with a modern and evidence-guided approach to healing.
